Ingredients
Makes 3 servings
- Meatballs
- 500g mince
- 1 tsp chilli flakes
- 2 hot green chillies, deseeded and finely chopped
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
- 1 medium onion
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 4 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
- Sauce
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 can of chopped tomatoes
- 2 hot green chillies, deseeded and finely chopped
- 2 tsp garam masala
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Pinch of ground cloves
- Bay leaf
Preparation
Put all the ingredients for the meatballs in the blender with some salt. Mix until blended completely and then make into golf ball-sized meatballs. Set aside.
To make the sauce, heat the oil in a large pan and add the cumin seeds. When they are sizzling, add the onion and cook for 8 mins.
Stir in the garlic and ginger, loosening with splash of water if they stick. Add the tumeric and salt and cook for a minute.
Add the tomatoes and stir for 2 mins, then add the chillies, adding more water if the mixture needs loosening further. Add the garam masala, cloves, cinnamon and bay leaf. Stir in.
Put the meatballs into the sauce and then leave on a low heat to cook - around 30-40 minutes.
