These cookies smell so good as they are baking, and taste great with tea, coffee or just a glass of ice cold milk.
The Maple glaze is optional ...
Ingredients
Makes 30 servings
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup soft brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- ¼ cup maple syrup (use the good stuff)
- ½ cup sour cream (Crème fraîche)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups plain flour - sifted
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- For the Glaze
- ½ cup butter
- 2 cups icing sugar - sifted
- 2 tsp maple syrup
- 2-4 tbs milk
Preparation
1. Pre heat oven to 190°C
2. Cream together the butter, sugar, and eggs.
3. Add in the maple syrup and sour cream and blend well.
4. In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; then gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until well combined.
5. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheet, leaving space between cookies.
6. Bake 10 - 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
7. Remove to cooling rack and allow cookies to cool completely.
8. To make glaze, heat butter until it begins to change color; then remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
9. Stir in icing sugar and maple syrup then gradually add milk until glaze is the desired consistency.
10. Spread glaze over cooled cookies.
