Possibly the best tasting lasagne in the world
Ingredients
Makes 6 servings
- FILLING
- 450g lean steak mince
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 4 small mushrooms (chopped)
- 1 carrot (finely grated)
- 1 tsp dried Italian herbs
- 1 Oxo cubed
- 1 tin of chopped tomatoes
- 3 tbsp tomato puree
- 1 large clove of garlic
- Salt & pepper
- 10-ish lasagne pasta sheets
- 100g cheese (grated)
- 1 tbsp sunflower oil
- SAUCE (approx. volumes):
- 100g butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 300ml milk
Preparation
Pre-heat oven to 180-200 degrees celsius
FILLING:
1. Add oil to a large pan to heat up
2. Add the finely chopped onion and fry for 2-3 mins
3. Add mince and fry until it is brown
4. Add Oxo cube, garlic, herbs, salt & pepper and stir
5. Add tomato puree and stir in, allow to heat up before adding the chopped tomatoes and grated carrot
6. Cook down on the heat for 10-15 mins and then take off heat.
SAUCE (Roux sauce):
1. Melt butter in a small pan
2. Add flour and mix together. Allow to cook down together for 2-3 mins
3. Slowly add milk, whisking all the way
4. Bring to the boil slowly to thicken the sauce
5. Add salt & pepper to season
FINAL STEPS:
1. Put a layer of meat filling in the bottom of a long, shallow lasagne dish (approx. 5-6cm deep)
2. Cover with lasagne sheets
3. Cover lasagne sheets with roux sauce
4. Repeat steps 1-3 until the dish is full
5. Cover top with cheese and put in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
Serve immediately and enjoy :o)
