This is the frosting I used on my chocolate fudge cake. It is very decadent and much admired by adults and children alike. You can of course double the quantities and double the quantities of fudge cake (either bake in one big tin for 1 hour and cut in half or 2 smaller tins) to make a really big chocolate birthday cake.
Ingredients
Makes 8 servings
- 100g dark chocolate, broken into squares
- 25g butter, chopped
- 1 tbsp golden syrup
- 1 tbsp icing sugar
- 150ml double cream
Preparation
Melt the chocolate and butter together - either gently on hob or in microwave 20 secs at a time.
Stir in the golden syrup and icing sugar.
Using an electric whisk (or lots of elbow grease if doing by hand) add the cream to the mix a bit at a time. Whisk until its thick and whoozy then spread over the cake as you want before refrigerating to set.
